Reflect, Celebrate, Create: Wrapping Up Your Year in Art

ree

As the year comes to a close, it is the perfect time for artists to pause, reflect, and celebrate all that you have created in 2025. This is not just about finishing projects or checking off goals. It is about recognising your growth, appreciating your creativity, and honouring the effort you have put into your art practice and business over the past twelve months. Whether you completed a major mural, launched a new collection, ran workshops, or simply found moments to nurture your personal practice, every step you have taken deserves recognition.

Reflection is a powerful tool for growth. Take some time to look back on your year and ask yourself key questions: What were your top three wins this year, big or small?

What felt heavy or draining?

What did you create that you are most proud of?

What projects brought in income and joy?

Writing down your answers can help you see patterns in your work, understand your progress, and identify areas to focus on in the year ahead. I have created a free worksheet you can write your answer on.

Celebrating your successes is equally important. Too often, artists rush from one project to the next without pausing to acknowledge what they have achieved. Take the time to celebrate your wins, no matter how big or small. Consider sharing your favourite pieces on social media, gifting artwork to someone who has supported you, or simply taking a quiet moment to appreciate your journey. Celebrations do not have to be extravagant. Even small rituals like lighting a candle while reviewing your work or creating a visual recap of your year can reinforce your accomplishments and inspire confidence for the future.

Here at our Group Coaching program, we are currently preparing for our Celebration Session, the final session of the year. During this special session, we take the time to celebrate our collective successes, reflect on the lessons we have learned, and acknowledge how far we have come as a group of creative business owners. It is a wonderful reminder that celebrating achievements, both individually and together, fuels motivation and inspiration for the year ahead.

Once you have reflected and celebrated, it is time to look forward. Use the insights you have gathered to set intentions for 2026. Think about the projects you would love to explore, the skills you want to develop, and the systems you can put in place to make your creative business stronger. Planning ahead does not have to be overwhelming. Even small steps, like setting up a new workflow, scheduling regular studio time, or creating a list of ideas for your next project, can make a big difference in maintaining momentum and staying inspired throughout the year.

To help you make the most of your year-end reflection, I have created a free Year-End Worksheet for Artists. This guides you through the questions asked above. Download it today and start your reflection process in a simple, structured way. Taking this small step now will give you clarity, confidence, and energy as you step into 2026.

Reflect, celebrate, and create. Honour your journey, acknowledge your achievements, and prepare for a year of growth, inspiration, and success. Your art is worth celebrating and your vision for the future is worth pursuing.

I would like to acknowledge the Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I live, create and work. I would like to pay my respects to local Indigenous Elders past, present and emerging and recognise the strength, resilience and capacity of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
