This is one of two artworks from the series: Where the Wild Things Sleep.
Created in the weeks following the loss of my beloved cat Lilly, these companion artworks explore themes of comfort, grief, rest and healing.For many years, one of my favourite places in the world was lying beside Lilly while she slept. In those quiet moments, the noise of life seemed to soften. There was no pressure to be productive, no expectations, and no need to be anywhere else. Just stillness, warmth and the simple comfort of being close to someone you love.Set against a deep forest backdrop, the sleeping woman and resting tiger represent that sense of sanctuary. A vibrant neon pink ribbon flows through both works, symbolising the invisible thread that connects us to those we love, even after they are gone.These paintings are a reflection on grief, but also on peace. They are a reminder that rest is not weakness, that healing often happens in stillness, and that love continues to exist long after a physical presence has disappeared.
